NOT BEING ABLE TO MOBILIZE IN THE AGE OF HYPERMOBILITY (2024- 2025)

Homoerotik imgelerle örülü seri, küreselleşmenin hareket özgürlüğüne ilişkin vaatlerinin geçerliliklerini yitirdiğine dair bir anlatı sunar. Çeşitli teorisyenlerce hipermobilite şeklinde nitelenen çağın, toplumların ötekileri açısından bir yanılsamadan ibaret olduğunu öne süren çalışmalar; queer estetikten hareketle beden, sınırlar, göçle ilişkili toplumsal eşitsizlikler, doğa, şehir ve yabancılaşma gibi kavramları sorgular.

Seri, toplumsal normların örselediği bireylerin kimlik ve yer arayışlarını odağına alırken asamblajlarda kullanılan ayna parçaları aracılığıyla alımlayıcıyı da eserin parçası haline gelmeye davet eder. Görsellerin soyut doğası, eserleri farklı şekillerde okumayı mümkün kılarak anlamı çoğullaştırmayı hedefler.

Woven with homoerotic imagery, the series presents a narrative that speaks to the loss of validity in globalization’s promises of freedom of movement. Drawing on works that argue the era—described by various theorists as one of hypermobility—is nothing more than an illusion for society’s others, it employs a queer aesthetic to question concepts such as the body, borders, social inequalities related to migration, nature, the city, and alienation.

While centering on the search for identity and belonging of individuals scarred by social norms, the series invites the viewer to become part of the work through the use of mirror fragments in the assemblages. The abstract nature of the images aims to multiply meaning by allowing the works to be read in multiple ways.
